Lenovo Readying a ‘Lite’ Version of Lenovo Legion Go Handheld Gaming Device: Report

Lenovo Legion Go was launched in September last year, equipped with AMD Ryzen Z1 series processors and running Windows 11. This handheld gaming PC features detachable controllers like the Nintendo Switch and follows the wave of portable gaming devices like the Steam Deck and Asus ROG Ally. Now Lenovo is reportedly preparing to launch a “Lite” version of the Legion Go. Earlier this month, ASUS announced that it would soon launch an updated ROG Ally handheld device.

A report from Windows Central, citing sources familiar with Lenovo’s plans, claims that the company is preparing to launch the Lenovo Legion Go “Lite”. The “Lite” version of the handheld device will reportedly run on the same AMD Ryzen Z1 series processors, but may feature some “improvements” over its predecessor.

Details about the changes and updates for the Lenovo Legion Go Lite haven’t been released yet, but the “Lite” moniker suggests some hardware compromises to bring the price of the handheld gaming device down. A Windows Central report speculates that the Lenovo Legion Go Lite may come with a smaller screen and the removal of detachable controllers, just like the Nintendo Switch Lite. Therefore, the price of Lenovo Legion Go Lite may also be lower.

There are no official details about the Lenovo Legion Go “Lite” version yet, and the company has yet to reveal a release schedule for the device.

Lenovo isn’t the only manufacturer preparing an updated version of its handheld gaming PC. Asus has announced that it will launch the Asus ROG Ally X, an updated version of its handheld device, on June 2. The upcoming ROG Ally X is said to come with a bigger battery, more RAM, and a new black color scheme.

A report last week claimed that the Asus ROG Ally X will have a larger 80Whr battery and come with 24GB of LPDDR5 memory, compared to its predecessor’s 16GB of RAM.

Lenovo Legion Go was launched at IFA in Berlin in September last year, priced at 799 euros (approximately Rs. 70,000). It comes with an 8.8-inch QHD+ display with a refresh rate of 144Hz. The handheld device is powered by AMD Ryzen Z1 series SoC, paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD.
