Lakers jersey history No. 30 — Alex Blackwell

The Los Angeles Lakers have a total of 506 players playing for them throughout the 2024-25 season, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some are forgettable, some are serviceable, some are good, and some are downright legendary.

In the 80th season of the Lakers franchise, founded in 1946 as the Detroit Gems, LeBron Wire is taking a look at every player who has worn one of their uniforms, whether it’s the purple and gold or those from their early days in the Midwest.

Alex Blackwell came to the Lakers as an undrafted free agent in 1992 after averaging 20.3 points and 7.9 rebounds in three seasons at Monmouth College (now Monmouth University) in New Jersey. In his only season in the NBA, he averaged 1.3 points and 0.9 rebounds in 4 minutes per game.

The 6-foot-6 forward spent the next four years in the Continental Basketball Association. He then left the country and continued his basketball career in countries such as Spain, Uruguay, Venezuela, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil.
