KSAT’s Sarah Spivey welcomes major station shake-up

If you’ve turned on a TV in San Antonio at any time in the past eight years, you’ve probably seen KSAT 12’s Sarah Spivey standing in front of a green screen delivering the weather. After several years of weekend weather updates, people will have to see this familiar face at different times – but don’t panic just yet.

During the broadcast on Tuesday, Dec. 16, Spivey announced she would be jumping to the weekday noon broadcast, joining veteran anchors Courtney Friedman and Stephanie Serna. Spivey, a San Antonio native and graduate of Clark High School, joined the KSAT Weather Bureau team in 2017 and has been a staple of the weekend morning show ever since.

“For the past eight and a half years, I’ve been working weekend mornings…well, I’m actually going to be working weekdays at KSAT,” Spivey said on the broadcast. “I’m not going anywhere. I’m happy to stay at KSAT and I’ll be on the noon show Monday through Friday.

That’s not the only update Spivey has given San Antonio viewers recently, as one year ago today, on December 16, 2024, she and husband Michael welcomed their first child, a baby boy. It appears the new chapter may have played a role in the schedule shift.

“As much as I enjoy working weekend mornings, working weekdays is better for my family,” she said. “I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with you [Serna and Friedman]”.

In a statement to MySA, a spokesperson for the network said they were “delighted” to have Spivey join the Midday News team.

“Sarah has proven herself to be one of the most experienced, knowledgeable and trustworthy members of our Weather Service team,” the spokesperson said. “From her science experiments with Sarah, to years of tracking weather patterns in Central and South Texas, Sarah brings a wealth of weather stories and accurate forecasts to our community every weekday. We are excited to have her on board and continue to care about the well-being of our community.”

KSAT recently added a new meteorologist, Elliot Wilson, who came to the Alamo City via Oklahoma City and had his first day on the air on Saturday, December 6.
