Kentucky has reportedly moved on from top-10 transfer Paulius Murauskas

It’s no secret that the Kentucky Wildcats have a lot of holes to fill on the roster, but so far, Zoom Diallo is the only transfer commitment they’ve made within the first 10 days of the door being open.

Kentucky was one of the early contenders in his recruitment when St. Mary’s forward Paulius Murauskas entered the portal, and he is currently On3’s eighth-ranked player in the portal.

For whatever reason, Murauskas no longer appears to be an option for the Wildcats.

On3’s Joe Tipton says Kentucky appears to have moved on from Murauskas.

“Kentucky is another school to watch, but it sounds like the Wildcats are moving on as well,” Tipton wrote.

In fact, there was a time when Louisville looked like the favorite, but like many teams involved in this recruitment, chose to move on.

The biggest factor moving the team forward is that Randy Bennett, Murauskas’ coach with the Gaels, took over the Arizona State job in the offseason, so the Sun Devils look like the team to beat.

Another thing that’s holding teams back is that Murauskas is testing the NBA Draft waters and doesn’t plan on making a decision anytime soon, and Arizona State seems to be the only school currently willing to wait.

Will Kentucky eventually come back if other options fail? It’s possible, but for now, it appears Murauskas is no longer on the board of directors for Mark Pope and his staff.
