Jim Acosta demands CNN fire Scott Jennings after on-air confrontation with panelist

Former CNN reporter Jim Acosta is calling for the firing of his former colleague Scott Jennings, denouncing his on-air foul-mouthed altercation with a panelist as a violation of professional standards.

“It’s so shocking, it’s a sackable offense. I think he should be sacked. I’ve been saying that for a while. He should be sacked,” he said on Friday’s show.The Jim Acosta Show“.

Jennings got into a heated exchange on Thursday’s “CNN Newsnight with Abby Phillip,” where he clashed with MeidasTouch influencer Adam Moakler over the U.S. position on the war with Iran.

“We all know that Scott Jennings is more than happy to go to war with a country that begins with the letters Ira, and we are currently losing it, which will leave us with trillions of dollars in debt,” Mockler said.

Jennings fired back, arguing that the roughly eight-week conflict was not an “endless war,” as Mockler said.

“You have the attention span of a small insect,” Jennings said.

As the conversation grew heated, Mockler — who believed the Iran war had “failed” — asked Jennings to cite evidence of success.

“Get your fucking hands out of my face,” Jennings responded, gesturing to Mockler.

After the clip aired, Mockler responded to the incident in X’s post.

“Scott Jennings claims I was in his face; watch what really happened in the full CNN segment. He launched into a personal attack… then folded when pressured. Scott loved the pitch but couldn’t take it,” the MeidasTouch influencer said.

Former CNN reporter Acosta and CNN commentator Jennings worked together at the network for eight years, with Acosta leaving the network in 2025.

Acosta insisted Jennings’ behavior should be terminated immediately, while also praising CNN anchor Abby Phillip for de-escalating the confrontation.

“He’s been on the loose for so long,” he said.

Acosta added: “I mean, they should have handed him the box today and told him to get out.”

Fox News Digital reached out to CNN for comment.
