Japanese manufacturer Sanko Texas Corporation will break ground on its first U.S. manufacturing facility Wednesday, marking the company’s first expansion into the U.S. and establishing its U.S. headquarters in San Antonio.
A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the Sanko Texas Corporation site, 16586 Watson Road in southern Bexar County.
Local and regional officials said the investment reflects San Antonio’s strengths in workforce talent, infrastructure and business climate that help attract global manufacturers. By choosing San Antonio, Sanko joins Texas’ rapidly growing advanced manufacturing industry, which plays an important role in regional economic growth.

The project also highlights the region’s economic ties with Japan, while reflecting a coordinated effort by local and regional partners to attract international investment.
Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai is expected to attend the ceremony. San Antonio Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones; Bexar County District 1 Commissioner Rebecca Clay-Flores; San Antonio District 3 Councilwoman Phyllis Viagran; members of Sanko leadership and local business leaders.
