The New York Giants are having a rough season on the field in 2025, but the future of the team appears to be bright.

Players like Jackson Dutt, Malik Nabors, Cam Scatterbo, Abdul Carter and Brian Burns give fans a lot of hope for the future, and fourth-year wide receiver Wandale Robinson is a big part of that future as well. Most recently, at 5-foot-8, Robinson became the shortest wide receiver in NFL history to record a 1,000-yard season.
But Robinson is also set to be an unrestricted free agent after the season, and there could be several teams interested in his services. Spotrac expects him to receive a contract next year worth nearly $15 million per season. The Giants may do whatever it takes to keep him on the roster, but another team may make a better offer to a team with a better chance of competing.
Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine believes this team will be one of the Giants’ biggest rivals…the Washington Commanders. Here’s Ballentine’s full analysis:
“Won’Dale Robinson made some history by surpassing 1,000 receiving yards this season for the Giants. He became the shortest receiver (5-foot-8) to reach that milestone in a single season.
Robinson is coming off a career year while the Giants offense lost Malik Nabors for the season. This provides a major target for Jaxon Dutt’s development in his rookie season.
But he might just be priced out of New York.
Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports that an NFL scout told him Robinson will “make $15 million to $16 million.” Scouts also noted that the Giants would have to pay Darius Slayton more than $12 million per year, and possibly slightly less than Christian Kirk’s average of $18 million per year.
The price tag, the impending return of Malik Nabors and the money committed to Slayton ($16 million next season) could give the Giants pause.
It’s also important to consider that they’re trying to get the second pick in the draft. The Giants could end up trading with a team in need of a quarterback and end up with Carnell Tate (eighth on the B/R board) or Jordin Tyson (11th).
Having one of those rookies sign a rookie deal at the same time as Malik Nabors would allow the Giants to spend money on other needs to bolster their roster.
The Commanders, Raiders and Titans all need wide receivers and more than $110 million in cap space. Robinson could be on the market for a big contract.

This will be a huge loss for the Giants offense as they have a chance to be really good next season. However, Ballentine made a strong point about the contract extension Darius Slayton signed during the offseason and how it will hurt the team’s chances of investing more money at the wide receiver position.
