Jake Paul’s holiday celebrations will be accompanied by a liquid diet. The YouTuber-turned-boxer underwent successful surgery Saturday morning to repair a broken jaw sustained during Friday night’s Netflix boxing match with Anthony Joshua.
Joshua, the Olympic champion and former two-time unified heavyweight champion, brutally knocked Paul out with a straight right hand in the sixth round of their heavyweight bout at the Kasea Center in Miami. Joshua knocked Paul down four times by the end of the fight, dominating a strange and one-sided mismatch while reducing the American’s 48 punches to 16.

Paul was hospitalized immediately after the game, and X-rays later released revealed two fractures to his jaw.
After undergoing surgery on Saturday morning, Paul posted a photo of two titanium plates inserted into his jaw and said he would be restricted to a liquid diet for the next seven days.
Just had surgery. Everything went smoothly. Thank you all for your love. Lots of pain and stiffness. You must eat liquid food within 7 days
Thank you to the wonderful team at University of Miami Hospital. Everyone was so kind and caring.
The surgery went smoothly, thank you all for your love and support. 2 titanium plates per side. Some teeth were removed. Only drink liquids for 7 days
Despite the brutal ending to the fight, Joshua made it clear in the hours after Friday’s fight that he was “not happy” with his performance, which included a slow start in which Joshua kept blocking Paul’s multiple jabs to Joshua’s legs as if the American was shooting for an MMA-style double-leg takedown.

“I need to do better,” Joshua said in his post-fight press conference. “It was a win, but it wasn’t a success. I think my coach expected more of me and I expected more of myself.”
“There’s a lot going on in this game, a lot of pressure, high expectations. So I have to perform well.”
At least Joshua will be able to eat his holiday dinner without using a straw.
