president Donald Trump He made a stunning denial when confronted with the unhinged letter, which accused him of failing to win the Nobel Prize for threatening to seize Greenland.
On Monday, the Trump Nobel Peace Prize story took another surreal escalation. Just days after he snatched the award from the 2025 winner Maria Corina MachadoTrump wrote to Norway complaining bitterly that he no longer felt “obligated to think purely about peace.”
Why? Because “your country decided not to award me the Nobel Peace Prize for preventing eight wars.”
(The award is not presented by the Kingdom of Norway, nor does Trump “Stop 8 Wars PLUS.”)
The president was questioned about the letter during a brief chat with reporters just before midnight Monday after attending the college football championship game in Miami.
Despite Trump lobbying tirelessly for the award, accepting an invented FIFA award in its place, stripping Machado of the award, and sending a threatening international letter surrounding the award, Trump denies caring about the award:
Reporter: In your letter to the Prime Minister, you mentioned that the Nobel Prize affected your views on Greenland. Can you talk about it?
President Donald Trump: No, I don’t care about the Nobel Prize.
First, a very good woman felt that I deserved it and really wanted me to win the Nobel Prize. I appreciate this.
If anyone thinks Norway has no control over the Nobel Prize! They were just kidding. They have a committee but it is controlled by Norway. I don’t care what Norway says.
But I really don’t care about that. What I care about is saving lives. I think I’ve saved tens of millions of lives.
If you think of India and Pakistan as one or two nuclear powers. You look at many countries that have gone through 30 or even 35 years of war, and I did it.
We have stopped eight wars, and perhaps we will soon stop a ninth. We’ll see.
