“We have to do better, but we’re still on top,” Chivu said. “If we’re just a few points behind first place, it means everyone else has dropped something.
“I don’t know where the truth lies. We’ve got 12 points, which is not enough, but there’s still a long way to go until January.”

“Before that we have the Super Cup and the league as well. We are doing our best and it’s never easy when you lose.”
“But it’s not dramatic; we train to improve those aspects as well.”
He then assessed Inter’s performance.
“We had trouble early on with their ball circulation and we even made two substitutions,” Chivu added.
“Then we found the key to the game and created something in the final minutes and found the positivity we needed from the start.
“It’s not easy to face a team as strong as Liverpool. In the second half, we wanted to continue in the same way.
“However, we lacked energy and only had one substitution window left, so we brought on new players at the end.

“And then, because of that, we lost.”
Commenting on Zwaye’s questionable penalty, Chivu said: “If we talk about sportsmanship, this happens with every corner and free kick.
“To me, it’s too easy; you have to convey something different.”

“These things happen when you don’t have time to rest.
“You have to accept it and find solutions with the players available. We have to use all 22 players.”
