Van Basten, 61, didn’t mince words, calling Salah’s behavior towards the coach “wrong” and even claiming the Egyptian “has the brain of a beetle”.

He told Ziggo Sport: “I say he has the brain of a beetle. If that’s how he reacts… He had a great season last year but this year, he’s not up to par. He’s been terrible in recent months.”
He continued: “I think Slott is a straightforward, honest person who does not shy away from confrontation and never speaks easily. And Salah started attacking this person and behaved inappropriately.”
Nasri: ‘Sarah is not to blame for Liverpool’s crisis’
Meanwhile, former French-Algerian international Samir Nasri tried to put criticism of Salah into perspective: “Salah is not responsible for Liverpool’s current form. Yes, his level has dropped, but Slott should not forget everything he contributed last season. The main problem is the change in the system.”

Nasri added: “I wish Salah would have spoken out about the team’s difficulties earlier and taken a leadership role instead of focusing on his own situation. He should have had a one-on-one conversation with Slott about this.”
