Inter held meeting with referees’ team after controversial Atalanta draw

Serie A leaders Inter Milan felt defeated in their 1-1 draw with Atalanta as La Dea were awarded a controversial goal and the Nerazzurri were denied a clear-cut penalty late in the game.

It was an ugly scene towards the end of the game, with Christian Chivu sent off for dissent.

Gazzetta dello Sport – Calciomercato reported that Inter CEO Beppe Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio addressed the refereeing staff after the game. The conversation was described as fairly polite.

This is the second time Inter have complained to the referee, the first being during the defeat to Napoli earlier this season. Unlike that moment, Inter were in a media blackout, with no one at the club coming forward to issue a statement.

Marotta questioned the calls after the Napoli controversy. This time, alliance leaders remained silent and let the incident do the talking.
