A Baldwin County judge and attorney who handles drunk driving matters were charged Saturday with driving under the influence, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Chief Magistrate Shane Michael Geeter, 71, was pulled over after he drove out of his lane on Georgia Route 212 around 8:30 Saturday night, according to an email from GSP Public Information Officer Capt. Crystal Zion.
Zion told The Daily Telegraph: “Police made contact with the driver… and had reason to believe he was under the influence of alcoholic beverages.”
The Milledgeville man was arrested and charged with DUI and failure to maintain lane, Zion said. He was booked into the Baldwin County Jail.
As of Wednesday evening, it was unclear whether Gitte was still incarcerated. The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to The Dispatch’s request for comment.
According to Jitter’s website, he provides legal assistance with family law, adoptions, DUI, wills, trusts and estates.
