How to Play Red Dead Redemption on the Xbox One Right Now

While game developer Rockstar is best known for its Grand Theft Auto series, it broke new ground with 2010’s open-world Wild West epic Red Dead Redemption. It is exclusive to PS3 and Xbox 360. Ever since Microsoft announced backward compatibility with the Xbox One, the game has been one of the community’s most requested Xbox 360 games to play on the Redmond-based company’s latest console.

Although Microsoft hasn’t officially announced its availability, you can play it on Xbox One right now. This was discovered by users of the popular gaming forum NeoGAF, who found it playable. Presumably checked by testers shortly before release. You can also play Red Dead Redemption on Xbox One now. Here’s how.

1. Find people who follow Red Dead Redemption. With the new Xbox One experience, players can follow specific games to get direct updates. Just look for an Xbox One user on your console and see the games he or she follows.

2. Once you do this, you can download the game from the Red Dead Redemption page on Xbox One if you already own the game digitally.

3. If you don’t have the digital version, you can buy it from the Xbox website for Rs. 1,499 and proceed to download from the Red Dead Redemption page on Xbox One.

If you own the disc version, don’t worry. Microsoft should let you play it soon.

Red Dead Redemption isn’t the only game. Other games such as Tekken Tag Team Championship 2 and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night can also be played in the same way. This suggests that Microsoft will inevitably announce that these Xbox 360 games will be available on Xbox One through backward compatibility.
