COVID-19 positive cases are increasing again in India and an effective vaccination drive has become more important than before. The government is currently in the third phase of the vaccination campaign and has approved vaccinations for all citizens over the age of 45. In private hospitals, one dose of COVID-19 vaccine costs Rs 1. 250, while government hospitals provide it free of charge. India has approved two types of vaccines: Covaxin and Covishield. To find the nearest vaccination centre, eligible citizens can head to the CoWIN portal or MapMyIndia online website.
How to find the nearest Covid-19 vaccination center
India is using Covaxin and Covishield as part of the current vaccination drive. Covaxin is developed by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Institute of Virology (NIV). Covishield, on the other hand, is developed by Oxford-AstraZeneca and manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII). To find the nearest COVID-19 vaccination centre, users can head to the CoWIN portal or the MapMyIndia website. Please follow the steps below to find your nearest vaccination centre.

Go to cowin.gov.in. Scroll down on the home page and look for the section Find your nearest vaccination centre.

A map of India is embedded in this section and you can scroll to your region to see the vaccination centers there.

For a more refined search, click Current location in the tab next to the map and press go. You can also enter your password to access all vaccination centers in the area.

The list includes the names of hospitals and vaccination centers near you. It gives you the full address of the center and has a Get directions button to open instructions on how to get there on the MapMyIndia portal.

Register to access all features on the website. After logging in, press Current location Enter the address or place name or eLoc you are interested in in the search box. eLoc is a 6-character numerical address of any location across India – representing an exact PIN code at the doorstep of any location.

Click vaccination center options in the left menu. The platform will provide a list of nearby options and their distance from your location. The addresses are pinned to the map with an injection symbol indicating it is a registered vaccination centre.

Click Get directions Further get accurate route directions and real-time navigation to this vaccination center.
