But have you ever tried downloading a copy of a photo shared on Instagram? As you may have noticed, the social network only allows users to post photos and videos – it doesn’t allow anyone (not even you) to save or download photos from within the app. In this way, the service attempts to protect the rights of Instagram users who share photos on the app. But there are few solutions to help users save the photos they upload to Instagram.
Via third-party apps on your phone
InstaSave is one of the most widely used third-party Android apps for downloading Instagram photos, which allows you to save Instagram photos to your device storage so that you can view them anytime and anywhere. The InstaSave app can be downloaded through Google Play.
Please note that this application, as well as other applications and services mentioned in this article, are third-party software that is not affiliated with Instagram. These apps use Instagram Oauth for login, which means that while your password remains secure, the app has access to your entire feed. It’s worth noting that you can’t always be sure how secure your password is – see the example of a rogue app later in this article. If you understand this, you can safely continue to use these services.
To save your Instagram pictures, download the InstaSave app on your Android device and log in using your Instagram credentials. Once logged in, the InstaSave app will display your photo stream and allow you to select images for download. Users can then select the photo they want to download and click on the save button with the download icon that appears below the photo. After clicking the icon, users will see where the photo is saved on their mobile device. You can then use the Gallery app on your device to find the photo. InstaSave also lets you search for users and tags to find images to save.
Android users can also use other apps such as Photo Saver For Instagram to download Instagram photos. iOS users, on the other hand, can download InstaGrab – a new way to view all their Instagram photos from the App Store and download Instagram photos to the camera roll on their device. The iOS app functions similarly to the Android app above.
While the above apps were functional at the time of filing this report, changes in Instagram policies may break them in the future. Instagram recently restricted third-party apps after an app called InstaAgent was found to be “harvesting” usernames and passwords and sending them to unknown servers. The app, “Who Viewed Your Profile – InstaAgent,” is available for download via Google Play and the App Store is capable of sending user credentials in clear text to a remote server.
Download Instagram photos on PC
Users can also download Instagram photos on PC to keep a copy of the shared photos on their desktop. Please note that, like the apps mentioned above, this is a third-party website and is not affiliated with Instagram. To download photos from Instagram, users need to visit the Instaport website on their computer browser.
1) Login to Instagram Use login details.
2) When logging in, the user can choose Download entire photo Or just a select few.
3) After selecting the photos to download, Instaport will ask for Place Keep the photos.
Notably, users will use the Instaport website to download Instagram photos in the form of .zip files.
Save your own Instagram photos when posting
One of the easiest ways to keep a copy of your Instagram photos on your phone is to choose to keep photos and videos on your device as you post them. This feature is available to all users in the application settings.
1) Go to your profile.
2) Click the options icon (Settings icon on iOS, hamburger menu on Android).
3) Slide Save original photo Set to on.
Once the “Save original photo” option is set to on, every time you post something on Instagram, the photo will automatically be saved to your phone’s photo roll.
Please note that users using Instagram on Android may experience delays in photos in their phone’s Instagram album.
