How to Create, Edit, Delete WhatsApp Status Updates

When WhatsApp turned eight in February, it rolled out a new feature that seemed to herald the app becoming less reliant on text messages and more reliant on photos and short videos — short-lived status updates. This latest feature from the Facebook-owned messaging company is very similar to social rival Snapchat, and the update not only adds a new status tab to the menu at the top of the screen, but also adds a camera button in the middle that can be used to update your status, contacts or groups. It’s an exciting change, and it’s also pretty simple, but if you have any questions about how to use the feature, here’s what you need to know about the WhatsApp Status update.

What happened to my old SMS WhatsApp status?

Are you referring to the line that most people ignore completely, leaving it as the default “Hi, I’m using WhatsApp”? Well, that’s in the past. Leave the past behind. According to some people, the old text status is still visible, but for most of us it’s gone, so if you still see the old status, try restarting the app. Of course, the company relaunched it in March due to user backlash over the favorite text status.
