The first round of snow is expected to arrive early Tuesday. This is expected to be mild but common.
A layer of powdery snow will hit much of southeastern Michigan Tuesday morning, with expected snowfall ranging from 1 to 2 inches, but most areas will fall in the lower range of that range.
Although the snow won’t be heavy, plan for a slower morning commute as cold temperatures cause snow to stick to the road.

There will be a break during the day after Tuesday morning’s snow, but that’s not the end of the snow.
More winter weather arrives Wednesday night, but temperatures are complicating forecasts. Highs are expected to rise into the mid-30s, which means some areas could end up with a mix of rain and snow.

In areas south of Detroit, snow may be difficult to accumulate once it rains, with final snow totals in the 1 to 3 inch range.
Areas further north, such as the Thumb area, may fall on the higher end of the 1-3 inch range.
Overall, the totals will depend on rainfall amounts and how quickly warm air moves through the area.
