The 2026 snowstorm broke records this week, dumping more than 3 feet of snow in one location in Rhode Island.
TF Green International Airport in Rhode Island recorded 37.9 inches of snowfall between Sunday, February 22 and Monday, February 23, surpassing the previous record of 28.6 inches set during the Blizzard of ’78.
The NWS said 35.5 inches of snow fell in Providence on Monday alone, breaking the previous snowfall record for February 23, which was set in 1967 at 3.8 inches.
While snowfall totals are still being reported, some Ocean State towns have received more than 2 feet of snow, according to the National Weather Service.

On February 23, 2026, during a snowstorm, the west end of Providence experienced heavy snow, high winds, and whiteout conditions. Winds left parts of some streets with up to an inch of snow and others as much as feet deep.
