Henry Cejudo: Max Holloway too good for Charles Oliveira at UFC 326

Henry Cejudo believes that Charles Oliveira’s style caters to Max Holloway.

Holloway (27-8 MMA, 23-8 UFC) defends his BMF title in a rematch against Oliveira (36-11 MMA, 23-11 UFC) in the main event of UFC 326 (Paramount+, CBS) on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Cejudo believes Oliveira’s willingness to fight with his feet cost him the fight against Holloway, but he said things could get interesting if he can catch him.

“I think it’s Max,” Cejudo told MMA Junkie. “His fundamentals are so solid, and sometimes I feel like Charles makes too many mistakes. He’s also, ‘Let’s fight — come on.’ I think Max is tactically smarter than that. He stays on his feet and moves laterally on his 1-2 feet.

“That’s where Oliveira’s straight opponents come forward and like to hold on tight. But if he can get him there, I think Charles can knock him out. His knockouts are actually underrated. He’s got a nice pair of legs.”

Cejudo said the timing of Holloway vs. Oliveira will be crucial in the UFC lightweight division.

“It’s a good fight, but it’s a fight people want to see,” Cejudo said. “If the guys on this card come out unscathed, they can turn around and fight in the White House. Who doesn’t want to see Max Holloway or Charles Oliveira fight in the White House? I guarantee those guys are down.”
