Britain’s Alfie Hewitt and Gordon Reid both triumphed as they met in the men’s wheelchair singles quarter-finals of the Australian Open before joining forces to reach the doubles semi-finals.
Defending champion Hewitt defeated Japanese player Takuya Miki 6-2 6-1 in just 55 minutes, while Reid defeated Australian wild card player Anderson Parker 6-3 6-2.

Hewitt and Reid then began their quest for a seventh consecutive wheelchair doubles title with a 6-0 6-4 victory over Mickey and Dutchman Tom Egberinck in Melbourne.
The pair have won 18 of the past 23 Grand Slam doubles titles.
They will face second seeds Martin de la Puente and Stephane Ude or Toki Oda and Gustavo Fernandez for a spot in the final.
Hewitt won his second Australian Open singles title last year and his 10th Grand Slam singles title.
Skupski and Johnson doubles competition
Team GB will also have two representatives competing in the semi-finals of the men’s doubles event.

Sixth seed Neil Skupski/American Christian Harrison defeated Czech pair Peter Nuza/Patrick Riker 6-2 6-3.
Luke Johnson and Polish partner Jan Zielinski defeated fourth seeds Marcelo Arevalo of El Salvador and Matt Pavic of Croatia 7-6 (7-5) 6-2.
Skupski and Harrison will battle third-seeded Marcel Granollers of Spain and Horacio Zeballos of Argentina for the final spot, while Johnson and Zielinski will face Australian wildcards Jason Kübler and Mark Polmans in the other half of the draw.
Andy Lapthorne and Gregory Slade were defeated in their respective first-round four-man singles matches.

Lapthorn lost to Turkish fourth seed Ahmed Kaplan 6-4 7-5, while Slade lost to Brazilian qualifier Leandro Pena 6-1 6-3.
However, Lapthorne reached the four-doubles semifinals with Australian Heath Davidson, defeating Chile’s Francisco Cayulev and Argentina’s Gonzalo Henrique Lazarte 7-6 (7-1) 6-4.
