The next Forza Horizon game may be released sooner than later. Just days after leaking the premise of the next entry in the Xbox arcade racing series, reports suggest Forza Horizon 6 could be released next month. The game is reportedly scheduled to debut at the Tokyo Game Show in September. The last game in the series, Forza Horizon 5, was first released on PC and Xbox consoles in 2021, with the PS5 version launching in April this year.
Forza Horizon 6 is about to be released
According to Windows Central, Microsoft and developer Playground Games plan to release Forza Horizon 6 at the Tokyo Game Show next month. The 2025 annual gaming conference will be held from September 25 to September 28, and Xbox has confirmed its attendance.
The report claims that “widely circulated” official documents “strongly” hint that Forza Horizon 6 will be unveiled at next month’s event. Neither Microsoft nor Playground Games have confirmed an imminent announcement, but Xbox CEO Phil Spencer said earlier this year that the next Forza Motorsport game would be released in 2026.
Forza Horizon 6’s reveal at the Tokyo Game Show also lends more credence to a leak last week suggesting the next entry in the racing series could be set in Japan. So it makes sense for Xbox to release a Forza game set in Japan.
In the latest leak, an Australian car importer claimed in a social media post that Forza Horizon team members have been scanning Kei cars, a lightweight motor vehicle originating from Japan. The post was later deleted, but sparked speculation that Forza Horizon 6 would be set in Japan. Forza Horizon 5, released in 2021, is set in Mexico.
Microsoft also released Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 this year, nearly four years after the critically acclaimed racing game launched on PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X. The PS5 version of the game is reportedly very popular. According to a market analysis company, “Forza Horizon 5” is the best-selling game on PS5 in 2025, with sales of more than 3 million copies.
