When asked what his priorities are this offseason in terms of improving baseball, Bregman pointed to strength and conditioning.
“First and foremost, (you) have to pride yourself on being available,” Bregman said. “I was injured last year, so I wanted to make sure I stayed healthy for 162 games and into the playoffs, so I really locked in on strength, conditioning and physical therapy.”
“I think the two things I want to make sure of this year is lowering my swing rate back into the 35-39 (percentage) range … (to) be more aggressively selective on dishes,” Bregman continued.

“Also, establishing more contact at the plate (is the goal in 2026).”
Bregman’s 2025 season marked another All-Star appearance for Bregman. After leaving the Houston Astros as a free agent and signing a three-year contract with the Red Sox, he played 114 games for Boston, batting .273 with 18 home runs, 62 RBI, 64 runs scored and an OPS of .822 (.360 OBP, .462 SLG).
His performance included strong home plate discipline, a low strikeout rate of 10.5% and a walk rate of 10.5%, contributing to a 125 wRC+ and 3.5 WAR. Although Bregman was limited by a strained quadriceps that sidelined him for some time, he continued to perform consistently against a strong lineup.
Career-wise, Bregman had amassed 1,250 hits, 209 homers, 725 RBIs and a .272/.365/.481 slash line in 1,225 games through the end of 2025, mostly with the Astros, where he helped win two World Series titles. His resume includes multiple All-Star selections, a Gold Glove and a Silver Slugger.

Bregman opted out of his Red Sox contract after the 2025 season and signed a five-year, $175 million deal with the Chicago Cubs in January.
