Five-star tight end Mark Bowman discusses decision to sign with USC

Last week, USC football officially signed its No. 1 recruiting class in the country for the 2026 cycle. Led by general manager Chad Bowden and head coach Lincoln Riley, the Trojans have acquired an elite group of talent that will hopefully help the program finally move to the next level.

One of the top players in the class is five-star tight end Mark Bowman. Despite a late push from Lane Kiffin and LSU, USC kept Bowman committed and had him sign with the Trojans on signing day.

In a recent interview with 247Sports, Bowman discussed what ultimately led him to sign with USC.

“It’s been a little busy today, but some contract stuff is on hold,” Bowman said. “My mom really enjoyed using it to look at details, so that’s what it’s all about.

“I’m glad it’s over. I’m glad I got to play with these guys.

“This class is a very tight-knit group. I’m excited to be with these guys. We’re going to go through everything together, the highs and the lows, so I’m really excited to develop and get better with the people around me. The relationships we have with each other are going to bring us together and take us to the top.”

According to numerous talent evaluators, Bowman is one of the top tight end recruits we’ve seen in recent years. With 2025 starter Lake McRee entering the NFL Draft, he has the potential to come in and make a significant contribution at the position right away.
