In the world of fantasy football, no one has done a 180 like Falcons TE Kyle Pitts Sr. He was the butt of jokes and memes leading up to and early into the 2025 NFL regular season. By the end, he had become a true conference-champion tight end. Matt Harmon and Justin Boone discuss Pitts’ surge in the TE rankings and whether he will carry that into the 2026 season on the latest episode of Yahoo Fantasy Forecast.
Harmon was quick to point out that Pitts didn’t really open things up until WR Derek London went down with an injury. The soon-to-be free agent finished the season as a TE2 behind only Trey McBride of the Cardinals in fantasy points. Pitts had 88 catches on 118 targets for 928 yards and five touchdowns in 17 games.

Most of that came in a 40.1-point outburst in Week 15, but Boone said it’s still happening with Pitts and it was nice to see him do meaningful things on the football field for the first time in a while. The analyst also reiterated Harmon’s statement that injuries are everything in London. Boone believes the trend among tight ends, such as Mike Gesicki and Cade Orton in recent seasons, is that they tend to emerge when the receiving corps suffers injuries.
Despite this big year, Pitts wasn’t a consistent option for much of the season. He only scored 10 points in 6 games all season, 4 of which came without London (London was active but also limited in one of those games). Therefore, five of the six games are directly related to the status of the ATL wide receivers.
Pitts, 25, will become a free agent this offseason and can sign with a new team. His outlook remains positive depending on where he lands after seeing what he can do when he’s a priority in the passing game.
