Everton 0-1 Sunderland: FA Cup Live | Barry on for Dibling

Live blog

78′ – Now McNeil moves into space on the right, left-footed inside, Barry shakes off his defender and his diving header goes just wide. Much better.

77′ – Jobe charges forward and wins a free kick on the edge of the final third. Garner thought Armstrong was short of the ball but he was unable to cross. Good idea, poor execution.
Miko made a deep pass and Taki headed the penalty kick but failed to control the shot.

74′ – Miko’s long pass, Pato heads in and McNeil’s shot keeps rising from far, far away.
The Toffees finally made a change, and it was an obvious one – Thierno Barry came on for Tyler Dibling.

71′ – Good free-kick but the Blueshirts don’t get on the ball and Miko is overpowered on the left. Sunderland are now playing a back-and-forth game as they are delighted to see time tick away from their back five.

70′ – Serkin gets a late free-kick from the right for Everton.
Sunderland’s starting substitute, Mayanda and Adingla are absent, Brobby and Ballard come on. If anyone needs reminding, there is still no activity for the trailing Blues in this game.

67′ – Miko avoids Ardingara, advances forward and fires a shot from the center straight towards the goalkeeper. The Blues still have no sign of a replacement.

65′ – Everton on the right, Pato crosses into the penalty area, Beto and Hume grapple with each other, the forward falls to the ground and hopes to get a penalty kick. John Brooks continued waving without saying much.

63′ – Sunderland’s short pass quickly breaks through the center of Everton and finds Mayanda, who breaks away from O’Brien and shoots wide of the far post. That’s the danger for the Blues going forward.
Mondel wins Pato’s free kick. After entering the penalty area, the Blues made a partial clearance and then a Sunderland player was offside.

60′ – Serkin passes the ball into the penalty area and Pickford must step forward to clear it.
Rovers latched on to the cross and fired a shot back into the area from Miko, the goalkeeper never getting close to the ball but Everton again couldn’t get a header on target.

56′ – Ugly scene as Garner harasses Mondel and makes a sliding tackle, which the Sunderland players seem angry about. There was some haggling and more players involved, but everything was resolved amicably.

55′ – Everton’s possession was much better in the second half at 59%.

52′ – Dieblin’s performance was like Moyes had it ringing in his ears at half-time. Better with the ball now. Patterson saw a low pass muffed and then another ball knocked over. Everton camped in the Black Cats’ half.

50′ – I can’t express how much I love Everton’s fourth kit. We will publish an article about it later in the day.

49′ – The right side works well, a cross is passed to Ghana and into the penalty area. Beto headers the goal, but it is not strong and is caught by Rovers. Much better now.

48′ – Diebring’s first quality moment of the game releases Paterson down the right, crossing into the box but not finding the Everton jersey. Encouraging.

46′ – The second half begins for Sunderland.

Half time thoughts – Everton simply do not have the ability to consistently control and create chances. Sunderland could sit back and challenge them in the second half and Moyes had little to offer on the bench to change that.

45+4′ – The midfield whistle sounded and Moyes trotted into the dressing room to a burst of boos from the ground. Fans are not impressed with the Blues here.

45+3′ – Now Rohr has won the ball and instead of trying a softer touch on Beto, he passes the ball to Rovers. On his best days, Berto doesn’t have great control and it’s impossible for him to slow down.

45+1′ – Sadiki pulls down the fleeing Armstrong and is booked by John Brooks. The first yellow card of the game. Power glanced past Mykolenko in the middle but leaned back and his shot crawled over the crossbar from more than thirty yards out.

45′ – A long diagonal line finds Diblin but his first touch is poor. Rolle then fouled while trying to win the ball.
There are more than three minutes to add here.

43rd minute – Everton was once again unable to break through the penalty area and made a mistake outside the penalty area. Mondel shot and Pickford flew out to save the visiting team.
Another training ground strategy that the Blues can do. The pressure was relieved when Beto won a foul in the Sunderland half.

40′ – Mondel wins Everton’s corner from the right. Passed all the way outside the penalty area, O’Nien headed the ball back into the penalty area, Taki blocked the ball well, and it was another corner kick.
Inside forward, part of the header went wide, Mukiele scissored, but Pickford made a good save! Wow, that’s close to freehub deflection too.

37′ – Now McNeil has a shot when he finds Miko on the overlap, but his shot goes just wide of the far post and the keeper does look to have the ball blocked, if not with his fingertips. The referee said it was a goal kick, although replays confirmed it should have been a corner kick.

36′ – Foul by Ghana, giving the visitors a chance outside the box. The ball went into the box and Taki cleared, but Patterson passed the ball back to Le Fay, who this time fired past Pickford.

29′ – The Black Cats assemble patiently and test Everton down the left, but O’Brien is quick to clear. A long throw-in, poor clearance, Rohr could not touch the ball, the ball fell to Le Fay’s feet, Le Fei rolled the ball into the far corner, Pickford had no chance, Sunderland led 1-0. The defense is terrible

27′ – Now Taki comes diagonally into the box, Armstrong and Beto collide before Rovers collects the ball and kicks it hard over the head of the young midfielder. Armstrong is on the field undergoing concussion testing but appears cleared to continue playing.

25′ – Everton holding and distributing the ball in a more consistent manner.
The Blues launched a three-on-two attack on the left, but the referee stopped the game and Serkin lowered his head. Audiences were very unhappy with this decision, but that’s where the modern game stops with all head injuries.

23′ – Rohr wins another free kick in midfield. Ghana broke into the penalty area again and Taki headed in again, but this time Sunderland were able to clear the ball. Adingla tried to break through the sideline, but was taken out by Miko.

22′ – Rohr wins a free kick on the edge of the final third. Garner puts it in the box and Taki brings it back, oh! ! Armstrong’s shot went over the crossbar and headed into the top corner. Shooting form is excellent, just a little bit off.

20′ – The Blues’ possession is now 34% more civilized.

18′ – Everton’s pressing works this time, McNeil passes back to Rovers and his clearance is hasty, reaching Rohr who tries an ambitious shot from 30 yards but the ball goes wide.
This energized the home crowd and Everton saw more chances of possession in the final minutes.

15′ – Everton’s first sustained attack ends with Tarkovski’s shot from outside the penalty area hitting his teammate.

14′ – Ardingara’s shot from inside the box is blocked by the Everton defender and the Sunderland fans behind the far side goal hope for a penalty, but no action is taken. The bullet struck Taki in the arm, which was close to his body and in front of him. In addition, there is no VAR in this game.

advertise

12′ – There is one way traffic here which is frustrating. The visitors’ ball possession rate here is 86% to 14%!

8′ – Rohr and Garner have good tackles in the middle but little attacking push. Still Sunderland.

5′ – Sunderland had all the possession early on, including seeing plenty of the ball inside the Everton box, but just couldn’t get a shot on target. It appears to be a long process for the Blues.

1′ – Ghana put on their special dark blue fourth kit to kick off the match against Everton!

Starting lineup

everton – Iroegbunam suffered a minor injury and will miss the game.

Sunderland – to visitors, it looks close to going all out.

Everton, whose two red cards continued to plague their midweek league clash with Wolves, were joined on the sidelines by Michael Keane and Jack Grealish, while David Moyes struggled to call up eleven players.

Sunderland sit one point ahead of the Blues in the league table and it’s a game anyone could win given the fierce battle they give the Toffees.
