As parents, we often tell our children: “You can do anything you want to do if you put your mind to it.”
For the Ebberts sisters, two of these examples live in their own home.
The Ebberts sisters were always told they could do anything they wanted, but they were naturally drawn to basketball.
“So it’s cool to see them progress, but they also like it, they want it. They want to be out there and shoot each other all the time,” said father Eric Ebberts.

“It’s your path. Don’t think about dad and me. Like, we’re out of date, you know what I mean? So just make your own path,” mom Michelle Ebberts added.
These “has-beens” are former Villanova basketball players and Hall of Famers. Now, their daughters are definitely forging their own paths — and it looks familiar.
“Seeing my parents play and watching their tapes inspired us to want to be as good as them,” Kayla Ebberts said.
“We all loved playing together. Even in the backyard, we would always shoot and compete with each other. I think we were all drawn to it,” added her sister, Kelsey Ebberts.

I was attracted to it and never looked back. The sisters were prominent at Archbishop Carroll and among the finest in the area.
Kayla and Kelsey are sophomores, while Alexis, a senior, will follow in her parents’ footsteps and come to Nova next season.
“This team, you know, they’re great. Villanova is a very safe community – they’re all very close – so, you know, I’m excited,” Alexis said.
“I’m going to miss her terribly. She was a great teammate and person, but she was right around the corner. Thank God.”
Sports are a way to build character. Now, Alexis and Kayla are rallying behind Kelsey, who is still recovering from knee surgery.

“Like you said, she’s been through adversity. Every day is one step closer to her goal of getting back on the court,” Alexis said.
“I think the thing I learned the most from her is how strong she is,” Kayla added.
“When I got hurt, I was very depressed, but I prayed a lot about it and I kind of felt like God had a hold of me and He had a plan for me,” Kelsey said.
Alexis needs Kelsey and Kayla by her side to achieve her ultimate goal.
“We’re trying to win the PCL championship. Last year we lost. I lost two years in a row. But hopefully this year, you know, we don’t put our heads down. We’re going to win,” Alexis said.
