Fairfax County, Virginia (washington dc news now) — One person was killed in a crash on Interstate 495 in Fairfax County on Saturday, Virginia State Police said.

The accident occurred before a winter storm hit the area. According to reports, the driver of a car lost control on Interstate 395 southbound to Interstate 495 northbound on Backlick Road a few minutes before 8:30 p.m.
The driver’s vehicle veered off the right side of the road, struck a Jersey wall, and then struck a stopped tractor-trailer. The driver of the car was taken to hospital where he later died.
The accident remains under investigation.
