Does Dan Quinn think Commanders are capable of a quick turnaround?

The Washington Commanders recently enjoyed a historic three-year winning streak: 4-13 (2023), 12-5 (2024) and 5-12 (2025). In recent NFL history, only the Carolina Panthers have experienced a similar period.

The good news is that general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn have Washington on track to turn a profit in 2024. They will all return in 2026.

Does Quinn think the Commanders can turn things around quickly again next season? He was asked the question after Sunday’s 24-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

“I haven’t been out there yet to reflect, but I have high expectations going into the locker room just to see so many different pieces,” Quinn said. “But the fight, the fight has stayed the same over the last four weeks. It’s never been a clean sheet or a turnover or a tackle or anything like that, but if you have your attitude and they want to fight for each other, I think that’s a standard you have to build a championship program. No one likes the roller coaster that you have ups and downs. But to see that kind of fight from a guy who was able to do that tonight, that’s a big thing for me.”

For Quinn, it’s a question that’s nearly impossible to answer after a game and season that went horribly wrong. Injuries have plagued Washington all season, and starting in Week 2, the Commanders lost running back Austin Ekeler and defensive end Dietrich for the season. Also in that game, quarterback Jayden Daniels, wide receiver Noah Brown and tight end John Bates were injured. It was the first of three different injuries that plagued Daniels all season, causing him to miss 10 games.

Expect this to be a busy offseason for Washington. The Commanders have more than 30 free agents, including big-name players such as Bobby Wagner, Zach Ertz and Deebo Samuel. Fortunately, Washington has the wherewithal to improve a roster that needs a lot of help.

So while Quinn won’t say it, he believes he and Peters can turn things around in 2026. If not, he can turn things around by this time next year.
