ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Cornerback Darius Slay has delayed reporting to the Buffalo Bills to take time to consider his future, his agent confirmed Thursday.
“Slay is honored that a top-tier team like the Bills has claimed him, but he will now be taking some time away from football and will make a decision over the next few days whether to continue playing football,” Drew Rosenhaus wrote in a text message to The Associated Press.

Slay, who has 13 NFL seasons of experience, decided he needed some time the day after the Bills claimed him off waivers after Pittsburgh released him. In his first season in Pittsburgh, Slay has not played in two of the Steelers’ past three games after losing his starting job.
He was waived to make room for wide receiver Adam Thielen on waivers.
Slay did not attend the Bills’ practice Thursday, and the team declined to comment.
Slay, 34, was an All-Pro selection in 2017 while playing his first seven seasons in Detroit. He spent five more years in Philadelphia, where he won a Super Bowl last season.

Overall, he has started 176 of 187 career games and has 28 interceptions but none over the past two seasons.
Buffalo (8-4), which hosts Cincinnati on Sunday, claimed Slay to add veteran depth, putting veteran Tre’Davious White and rookie Maxwell Hairston opposite starter Christian Benford.
Buffalo released fourth-year cornerback JaMarcus Ingram, who has remained healthy the past three weeks, to clear a roster spot for Slay.
