Commanders make roster moves before Week 18 finale vs. Eagles

On Saturday, the Washington Commanders released some final announcements regarding the 2025 season.

First, the Commanders promoted two players for Sunday’s season finale in Philadelphia. The Commanders elevated defensive tackle Ricky Barber and WR River Cracraft from the practice squad, as they did in the most recent game against the Cowboys.

QB Marcus Mariota and LT Laremy Tunsil are also now officially declared “out” for the final game against the Eagles. Third-string quarterback Josh Johnson, 39, will make his second start for Washington in 2025 after starting in 2018 under then-head coach Jay Gruden.

Barber was a pleasant surprise, making some big plays against the Cowboys, including his first quarterback sack in the NFL. For someone who made the cut in the final game, Barber was certainly the right choice. He’s 6-foot-3, 295 and a 24-year-old prospect out of UCF. This week, he showed off some of his ability against the Eagles and once again gained attention.

Clark Craft (31) is in his seventh season away from Washington State. Receiver Traylon Burks was ill earlier in the week but returned to practice on Friday. Maybe the Commanders’ coaches were concerned that Burks might not fully recover and wanted to make sure they had enough receivers, so they promoted Clark Craft? Noah Brown and Luke McCaffrey both played earlier in the season but were placed on injured reserve after injuries.
