Chelsea legend says that the current recruitment model is “working very well”

I’m not sure all fans will agree with him, but one Chelsea legend claims the model works well.

I think this recruiting model has a lot of advantages, but it also has a lot of disadvantages and a serious lack of balance in team building. I think there are a lot of issues that cause too many teething problems. That’s not the worst idea, they’ve already signed some top young players – some of whom I’m sure will or could become stars at some point. But there have been some questionable signings.

Exclusive! Chelsea legend is eager to return to Stamford Bridge and won’t ask for a big salary!

I have no problem with a youth-led recruitment policy – I just think more balance and more experience should be added early on. This just helps the raw players be less raw, gives them more motivation, and allows them to learn on the court with some of the best; guys who have been there and done that a hundred times.

But former Blues player Gianfranco Zola says it works well.

Zora on model

Gianfranco Zola is an expert.

As quoted on X, Zola said:

“It seems like the model is working and it’s working really well. I have to say Maresca has done a fantastic job because he’s given a structure to the whole team. Everyone knows what they’re doing.

“To think that right now we’ve lost our best player, Cole Palmer, to injury and we’re still performing well and getting results. It’s remarkable.”
