Lee’s 63-run stand for the first wicket along with Shafali Verma (29) helped the Capitals’ chase get off to a flying start.

After Lee was bowled by Amanjot Kaur, Rodriguez took over from her and along with Laura Wolvaardt (17) and Marizan Kapp (10 not out) registered her first significant score of the season.

South African Kapp smashed Nat Seaver-Brent at mid-wicket for a six to end the match as Mumbai suffered their third consecutive defeat.

Seaver Brunt was the star of Mumbai’s innings, hitting 65 with his third consecutive half-century in six games this season.

The England captain shared a 78-run stand with Harmanpreet Kaur for the third wicket until the Mumbai skipper was caught bowling by Sree Charani and the partnership was broken.

Leg-spinner Charani then returned to remove Nikolai Carey and Amanjot in five balls to finish with 3-33 as Mumbai posted 154-5.

The result moves Delhi above the Gujarat Giants into fourth spot, with the league’s four teams, including second-placed Mumbai, now on four points and with a net run-rate difference.

In fifth place is leading Royal Challengers Bangalore with five wins from five games.
