The duo of Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey are currently sidelined with injuries, while Paul George has been suspended for 25 games.

That said, the Sixers didn’t have trouble scoring despite missing key contributors.

Philadelphia finished with 139 points, beating Memphis by 10 points.

Kelly Oubre Jr., Quentin Grimes and rookie VJ Edgecombe shouldered much of the load in the starting lineup, combining for 74 points.

However, backup point guard Cameron Payne delivered the best performance of his 11-year career.

Payne made 8 of 8 three-pointers and scored a career-high 32 points. He also contributed 10 assists, 3 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks with no turnovers.

After the game, Payne talked about his performance and attitude on the bench.

“You never know when your name is going to be called. Just always be prepared.”

That advice from Payne has been consistent throughout his journey this season.

Payne most recently played in the EuroLeague for Belgrade’s Prtazan in February, but was given the opportunity to return to the NBA with Philadelphia and he hasn’t looked back since.

He has played in 11 games for the 76ers this season, including one start.

With the win, Philadelphia ended a brief two-game skid, but still dropped from sixth in the league to eighth after losing four of its past six games.
