Another day, another high-profile signing as the Cleveland Browns continue their impressive start to the offseason.
The Browns know they need to rebuild their offensive line, and do it in a very effective way. They immediately joined the board and strategically acquired Titus Howard and Zion Johnson. They then plan to re-sign offensive lineman Tevin Jenkins. They then capitalized on a big chance from Elgton Jenkins.

Jenkins became a bust in Green Bay, and the Browns immediately swooped in to acquire him. Here are five things to know about the Browns’ new center.
1. Injuries are part of the story
The story isn’t just about the Browns drafting a great free agent. While it was publicly described as a cap casualty move for the Packers, Jenkins was waived by Green Bay after failing a physical. While the news was shelved after the signing in Cleveland, it was widely known in NFL circles and was the result of a season-ending ankle injury. He is recovering from a fractured fibula he suffered in Week 10 of the 2025 season against the Philadelphia Eagles.
2. Pass blocking specialist
There is a common theme to all of Cleveland’s acquisitions, as these players excel in the passing game. This is not surprising. The identity of the Browns will be very different from what we were used to under the previous regime.

According to Pro Football Focus, Jenkins had a pass-blocking grade of 72.5, which ranked seventh among 40 qualifying centers in the league.
3. Top College Prospects
Jenkins was a member of the 2019 draft class and the 2019 NFL Draft class in which he was the No. 1 center prospect in the entire draft under Mel Kiper Jr. At Mississippi State, Jenkins showed versatility in that he could play every position on the offensive line but excelled at center. He was a second-round pick of the Packers in 2019.
4. Don’t waste time
Jenkins wasted no time once he entered the league, earning a starting job and keeping it. As often happens in the NFL, injuries opened up a spot at left guard. Jenkins slipped it in and never gave it back to me. Starting in Game 2, he became an integral part of the Packers’ offensive line.

5. Come with versatility upfront
The versatility Jenkins displayed at Mississippi State carried over to his time in the NFL. In his first year, he played primarily at left guard but played snaps at four of the five offensive line positions. He played snaps at left tackle, right guard and right tackle.
In his second season he achieved start Played at left guard and center, while seeing significant playing time at both tackle positions.
This obviously happened when Jenkins was young, but if Cleveland falls into an injury crisis next season, Jenkins could be the guy they move around to fill holes.
