The Denver Broncos have re-signed backup quarterback Sam Ehlinger. On Sunday night, Ehlinger reportedly agreed to a one-year, $2 million deal that will keep the shooter in Colorado through 2026. The deal was first reported by Jordan Schultz.
Ehlinger (6-1, 222 pounds) turned down active player offers from at least three NFL teams last year and instead stayed with the Broncos as their third quarterback, primarily on the practice squad.

The 27-year-old quarterback will now get a chance to compete with Jarrett Stidham for QB2 duties.
In 2022, Ehlinger started three games with the Indianapolis Colts, completing 63.4% of his passes for 573 yards and scoring three touchdowns against three interceptions. Indy is 0-3 in those games, but Ehlinger performed well in preseason games last summer.
Meanwhile, the Broncos locked up Elsinger amid speculation surrounding a Jarrett Stidham trade. Bo Nix has started for the Broncos since being selected by them in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He went 24-10 in the regular season as a starter, missing just one game after suffering a season-ending ankle injury in last season’s playoffs.
