PARK CITY, Utah (AP) — U.S. teammates Summer Britcher and Emily Fischnaller placed first and second in the final heat of Saturday’s World Cup women’s single luge race, a rare two-day format on the track.
Bricher ran the 2002 Olympic track in 43.291 seconds; Feisnerer finished in 43.295 seconds. Austria’s Dorothea Schwarz finished third with a time of 43.324 seconds.

The women’s tournament concludes on Saturday, with the men’s singles also wrapping up this weekend – again in a two-day format. Normally, both preliminary rounds of World Cup matches are held on the same day.
The men’s doubles and women’s doubles matches will take place on Friday night, both in the traditional two-round format.

In Lillehammer, Norway, defending world champions Mystic Rowe and Austin Florian of the United States finished second on Friday in the World Cup mixed pole competition, giving the U.S. its first medal in the sport of head skiing this season.
Team GB won the race in 1 minute 49.33 seconds with Tabitha Stoecker and Marcus Wyatt finishing the race. Ro and Florian were 0.56 seconds behind and just 0.02 seconds ahead of Germany’s Jacqueline Pfeifer and Axel Jungk.

Team GB also claimed gold in the men’s skeleton competition, with Olympic favorite Matt Weston notching his second victory in two meets this season. Jungk finished second and South Korea’s Seunggi Jung finished third; both were a tenth of a second off Weston’s time of 1:42.58.
In the women’s steel frame, defending World Cup champion Janine Flock of Austria claimed her 14th career win, with Stocker finishing second and Belgium’s Kim Melemans third.
