Commenters on Reddit had mixed feelings about a video showing a perfectly timed traffic stop.
The post shows a YouTube video shared by Bay Area news outlet KRON 4, titled: “San Jose police use decoys in crosswalk.” In the video, a woman presses the signal button and steps into the crosswalk. As she approached across the street, a white car sped past her. The camera pans to show a police officer chasing the car on a motorcycle.
Another angle appears to show the woman’s perspective at a crosswalk as a car blocks her path and a motorcycle chases her. The next shot is from the officer’s motorcycle as he conducts a traffic stop on a red car.
The post gained attention online due to the swift action taken by the police. Commenters offered some interesting remarks.
Top comments on the Reddit post read: “1. Admittedly, I’m not a big fan of the cops. 2. Haha, give it a try, Carbine.”
Other users agreed that instant karma looked fun, but they also shared some hot takes.
“There is absolutely no reason to involve the police in a traffic stop. Someone who ‘chases you with a gun’ should not be treated the same as someone who ‘gives you a ticket for speeding or running a red light,'” one user commented. “This will significantly reduce the number of deaths and give police officers one less thing to fear.”
Some commenters praised the police department’s actions.
One user wrote: “Police is very controversial but for me personally it’s very satisfying.”
Others believe the officer’s efforts would be better spent elsewhere.
Another user posted: “This is not really an effective way to make walking safer for people.”
