The Buffalo Bills enter a critical offseason.

They eventually made a major head coaching change, firing Sean McDermott and promoting Joe Brady. They have yet to make it to a Super Bowl with Josh Allen at quarterback. Free agency and the following draft will be critical.
But there’s a problem. The Bills don’t have much, if any, cap space, and it depends on how they restructure certain contracts.
At least they’ve got some business done ahead of free agency.

One key move: They traded DJ Moore from the Chicago Bears to become Allen’s new No. 1 wide receiver.
They also re-signed center Connor McGovern, one of Allen’s best friends and a key cog on the offensive line.

Now they’ll see what improvements they can make on the bottom line.

Tuesday
6:45 am: There are some key things to note as Tuesday begins. Free agency will operate much the same way today as it did on Monday. This is still “legal tampering” time. The deal won’t be formalized until Wednesday. There are still plenty of free agents on the board, so more news should emerge throughout the day.

11:33pm: Without a lot of cap space, the Bills made two nice moves on the first day of free agency negotiations. It will be interesting to see whether the Bills add depth WRs and other moves as the week continues.

7:37 PM ET: With Mitchell Trubisky gone, the Bills have a backup quarterback replacement. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Kyle Allen signed a two-year, $4.1 million contract to become the QB2 behind Josh Allen.
5:08 PM ET: The Bills upgraded the cornerback position by signing Dee Alford of the Falcons to a three-year, $21 million contract. The report comes from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
4:30 p.m. ET: Even the slow-moving Cowboys reportedly reached an agreement. Still no progress has been made on the bill.

3:15pm: Longtime friend Tremaine Edmonds, who was recently cut by the Bears, has signed with the New York Giants.
2:20pm: The news that Mike Evans is leaving the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the San Francisco 49ers is shocking. This also officially rules out Buffalo and Evans eventually.
2:10 pm: The Bills lost another key offensive lineman in free agent David Edwards, who signed with the Saints, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
1:15pm: The Patriots reportedly signed reliable linebacker Reggie Gilliam to a three-year, $12 million contract with division rival Buffalo.

1:12 PM: The Titans have a backup quarterback. Mitchell Trubisky has signed a two-year contract from Buffalo, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
