Battleground Mobile India (popularly known as BGMI) on Thursday launched the first electric vehicle (EV) in the game – the Mahindra BE 6. The game also includes Mahindra BE 6 themed content, including events and a month-long competition where users can enter draws to win a real eSUV.
Krafton partners with Mahindra to launch first electric vehicle at BGMI
While BGMI already allows players to drive cars (Aston Martins, Lamborghinis, and Volkswagens) around the map, these are internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles that require a fuel supply. The new Mahindra BE 6 is the first electric car to make its debut in the game and the first vehicle from an Indian automaker to be launched on BGMI.
During a press conference, the two companies announced that the vehicles in the game are based on the same 3D models as the real-life Mahindra BE 6. The vehicle’s interior will also be accurately represented, Krafton said. Like other vehicles previously launched in BGMI, gamers will be able to use the Mahindra BE 6 for fast travel.
In the latest update, Krafton has added a new in-game event called the Mahindra BE 6 Exchange Center, where players can exchange tokens for in-game rewards such as the Protective Vanguard Set, Mahindra Activity Box, and Mahindra Space Gifts. In order to redeem these “Nitro Wheels”, players need to complete various tasks on BGMI.
In addition to driving the Mahindra BE 6 in the game, players will also be able to participate in sweepstakes to win a real eSUV. The month-long competition will begin on January 25, a day before the carmaker will start test driving the vehicle in 16 more cities in India. and ends on February 25th.
In order to participate in the draw, players need to exchange Nitro Wheels tokens for Mahindra activity boxes after completing in-game tasks. They also had to record a video showing Mahindra BE 6 in action. Videos must be between 10 and 30 seconds long and uploaded to YouTube or Instagram – and the caption must include both companies’ social media handles, along with the hashtags #BGMIxMahindra and #UnleashTheCharge.
According to Krafton, players will also have access to a gacha-based “Lucky Spin” feature that may grant them in-game items such as the Quantum Flux Set, Chrono Charge Set, Volt Tracking Gun, Neon Drop BE 6 Parachute, Flashvault BE 6 Pack, and SparkStrike Pan.
