“In the first half, we played very slowly, and I didn’t like that. In the second half, we performed better. In the end, we scored three more goals and took another three points, and we didn’t miss that many chances.”

Flick delighted with Bernal’s goal

Flick was delighted for Bernal, who scored his first goal for Barcelona in the closing stages.

“His first goal for Barca was fantastic for him. After the injury, he has come back step by step. It will be great for him to score. Everyone came out, they started celebrating, they applauded, it was incredible for him. He scored his first goal at Camp Nou and did a really good job.”

Flick explains early replacement for Lamine Yamar

Lamine Yamar was quieter than usual at Camp Nou and despite scoring, he was substituted in the 78th minute. Flick explained the decision.

“We have to manage his minutes. He enjoyed it but, in the first half, he wasn’t at his best. He saved his energy for the second half and I’m not going to criticize him.”

Flick confused by referee’s decision

Flick also made it clear that he was unhappy with several decisions made by referee Alejandro Quintero Gonzalez.

“I don’t think I had any reason to see a card. I just told him that I made it clear that the Mallorca players were too close. I also thought, regarding Lamin’s foul, that it should have been a penalty.”
