Armia scores 2, Kempe has goal and assist as Kings beat Mammoth 4-2

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Joel Armia scored twice, Adrian Kempe had a goal and an assist and the Los Angeles Kings defeated the Utah Mammoths 4-2 on Monday night.

Anze Kopitar also scored and Kevin Fiala had two assists to give the Kings their third win in five games. Darcy Kuemper stopped 19 shots.

Clayton Keller had a goal and an assist and Dylan Guenther also scored for the Mammoths, who lost for the sixth time in eight games. Karel Vermelka finished with 23 saves.

Kempe scored for the Kings 7 minutes and 50 seconds into the game when he received a pass from Fiala, slid into Vimelka and hit a backhand shot past the goalkeeper for his 10th goal of the season.

At 10 minutes and 08 seconds, Amiya received a long pass from Fiala and beat Vimelka from between the two circles to make the score 2-0.

Thirty-four seconds into the second quarter, Clayton Keller passed the ball and Guenther made a one-on-one shot from the high post to make the Mammoths’ score 2-1. This is his 11th goal of the season.

Kopitar restored the Kings’ two-goal lead with 3:27 left in the third quarter.

Keller pulled the Mammoths within one with 7:47 left, but Armia sealed the Kings’ victory with an empty netter with 1:38 left.
