Anthony Weaver requested to interview for second head coaching job

The Miami Dolphins may or may not be in the John Harbaugh sweepstakes. If you’re reading the tea leaves in that article — and Josina Anderson’s social media posts — it appears Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has been in contact with Harbaugh’s representatives. We’ll see if this leads to the firing of Mike McDaniel and a formal interview with the former Baltimore Ravens head coach, but in the meantime, a member of the Dolphins organization in need of a head coaching vacancy has been asked to interview for a second such position.

Earlier this week, Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver was asked to interview for the Atlanta Falcons’ head coaching vacancy. On Tuesday night, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the Arizona Cardinals became the second team to request an interview with Miami’s head defensive coach.

Weaver plans to interview with the Cardinals on Friday and the Falcons on Saturday, according to Fowler.

If Weaver wins either job, the Miami Dolphins will have the opportunity to receive two third-round compensatory draft picks – one in 2026 and one in 2027 – as part of the National Football League’s incentive program that encourages the hiring of minorities for head coaching and general manager positions in the league.

We’ll continue to provide you with all the latest Miami Dolphins news as things appear to be shaping up as another wacky offseason begins.
