Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa spoke to the media ahead of Sunday’s game against Rayo Vallecano. When asked if he regretted the decisions he lost to Benfica and Albacete and if he learned anything from the losses, he said: “No, I didn’t… I believe regret is a dead end. As they say, I always try to learn from mistakes and failures. That’s always important. Fact “I think the most important thing is: learning when things don’t go well. That’s also my path as a coach, trying to figure out what I can do to improve, what I’m not doing right…Obviously, I’m the first one to tell the players that I’m going to make mistakes.”
Arbeloa talks about the match against Leo
“It’s vital to our ambitions. Rayo are a tough, aggressive team. It’s going to be difficult and we have to focus on playing our best.”

Arbeloa on what he hopes to see at the Bernabeu
“There are people who are with the team, just like in the last home game. I always ask for their support because with them we become stronger. Our goal is to win and keep fighting for the league title. If we want to stay competitive, we need them. Against Monaco we were united and it showed that with them everything will be much easier.”
Arbeloa on Dani Ceballos and Dani Carvajal
“For Danny, the main goal is for him to train consistently. To get playing time and avoid a relapse. I want to be patient and go step by step. But we need more time. With Ceballos… we all know his qualities and abilities. He is a necessary player. He will be very important from now until the end.”

Arbeloa talks about “untouchables”
“I understand the arguments, but I always want the best players on the pitch. The more minutes they give the team, the better. At Villarreal, for example, the goal came from a great performance by Vinicius; the second goal. They can make a difference at any time. Some people are not Madrid fans and wouldn’t want them on the pitch.”
Arbeloa talks about where the team falls behind
“Look, we’re trying to find the consistency of the game that we want at every level. I think this is neither a moment of disillusionment nor a moment of euphoria. This is a moment of work. That’s it.”

“Rayo Rayo Vallecano.”
Arbeloa doesn’t make enough runs in the team
“As I said, it’s time to work. We have two weeks to work at all levels… that’s what we want and are looking for. It’s 18 days… or 19 days… that the players will have time to improve, to take things to the next level. That’s what awaits us after tomorrow.”
Arbeloa discusses how far the team is from its ideal style of play
“It’s not a matter of distance… We don’t have a lot of time… While I’m very grateful to the players for their welcome and their commitment, it takes time. No matter how we explain it, it can only really be internalized on the pitch. We are eager for this period to come so that we can start working. And I have a lot of confidence.”

Arbeloa on whether the team is back to square one
“No. We are focused on Rayo, fully aware of the difficulty and demands of the game. That’s what we are focused on. Keep improving, growing. And knowing that everyone needs to perform at a very high level to win every game. This doesn’t just happen to us, it happens to everyone. If you want to win, you have to be at a very high level both collectively and individually.”
