Lucknow: Digvesh Rathi grabbed everyone’s attention with his impeccable bowling and extravagant celebrations in the last edition of IPL 2025, but also attracted reprimands and fines. There is no doubt that he will be under the spotlight in the IPl 2026 as well, both technically and behaviorally, but the enigmatic spinner remains committed to helping his team win their first title this year.

Speaking to TOI, Rathi said, “My preparation is the same as when I first played in the IPL. I think batsmen started reading my tactics last year, so I added some changes in my arsenal.”
“I had not played many domestic tournaments before my first IPL. I did well as an unknown entity in the last edition and that was an advantage for me, but I am confident about this one.”
When it comes to preparing for the big stage during the offseason, Ratti said, “For me, there is no offseason or season. I’m bowling in the nets, doing workouts, going to the gym every day.”
When asked what new things he has added in his arsenal, he said: “Being a mystery spinner, I worked on length and pace. When the length was right, it was difficult for the batsmen to hit the bowlers. I tried new variations but my coach stopped me and said to try again next year. Now, I have added one or two things to the existing variations.”
“I learned everything from YouTube and once I see something, I never forget it. I understand the batsmen by watching their batting videos and implement things by watching Varun Chakravarti’s bowling videos. Two months ago, LSG called me and I started working with the newly appointed spin coach Carl Crowe. The mystery spinner needs to learn on his own and needs a special coach who can further improve his skills and LSG provides me with that,” he added.

When asked what he learned from Karl Crowe, he said: “Karl has worked with Sunil Narine a lot, so he knows what is best for the mystery spin game. He has also worked with Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarty ”
When asked if he would continue the same notebook celebration this time, he said: “Last time I was a newcomer and I didn’t know how to celebrate while respecting my opponent. I have slowly learned things, so I will definitely celebrate, but I will not disrespect anyone, no matter who the opponent is.”
