Gulf Shores plane crash prompts large emergency response

Authorities are responding to the scene of a plane crash on the Gulf Coast.

The Gulf Coast Police Department issued a statement at around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday saying a large-scale emergency response was underway in the Sailboat Cove and Push Island areas following a plane crash in Bon Secour Bay.

Police officials said Marines and dive units were on scene, along with other first responders. No other information was released.

WKRG News 5 reports two people died. The station credited Gulf Coast Fire Rescue officials with the information.

Baldwin County EMA Director Tom Tyler said the 911 call came in just before 7 p.m. and his agency offered to help if needed.

The single-engine aircraft is believed to be a Beechcraft Bonanza.
