Hero Wars is a strategy RPG in which it all comes down to having the right team to annihilate your opposition or be stuck on repeat losses. With there being hundreds of unique Heroes, each with unique abilities, it’s easy to lose your way. Many new players fall into the trap of attempting to build too many heroes simultaneously, which weakens their resources and sets progress to a grinding halt.
One of the most popular starter heroes is Galahad, an excellent tank in early game and everyone’s favorite because of his easy play style and rock-solid defense. Still, regardless of how overpowered a hero looks, your success in Hero Wars is dependent on synergy, balance, and resource control.
Don’t Build 20 Heroes at Once — Prioritize 5
One of the largest mistakes that are made by new players is trying to level out each hero that is unlocked. This causes a multitude of weak teams, slow advancement, and frustration. Rather, focus your energy, gold, and resources on leveling just five heroes. Your best team will include one tank, one or two damage dealers, and two or three support heroes.
Know the Damage Types First
Before selecting your team, it’s crucial that you understand the three types of damage in Hero Wars:
Physical Damage
Magic Damage
Pure Damage
Knowing this allows you to compose based on one type of damage, and by doing so, you’re able to support and scale your damage output efficiently. If you’re selecting a physical damage team, focus on Warrior and Marksman heroes, as they are the main physical damage dealers.
Then pick a good tank from the Tank class. Galahad is a great early pick whose fame only grows due to his straightforward mechanics and strength in the early game.
From the Support class, good well-rounded characters like Sebastian and Nebula can be used in almost any team make-up. They help increase your damage, guard against crowd control, and provide necessary balance for your group. To ensure survivability, be sure to add a Healer — someone like Thea, Dorian, or Martha can make a huge difference on longer fights.
Upgrade Strategically — Not Randomly
Once you’ve chosen your core five heroes, it’s time to focus on upgrades — but not all upgrades are equal. Prioritize artifacts, skins, glyphs, and equipment that boost the specific stats your hero’s skills rely on.
For example, if the hero’s skill develops parallel to physical attack, then develop level up glyphs, skins, and artifacts that enhance physical attack. Don’t invest resources into developing health or magic attack if they aren’t going to benefit your damage dealer immediately.
And don’t forget — skins in Hero Wars are not just for cosmetics. After you level up a skin, the bonus to stats is permanent, no matter if you switch to a different appearance later or not. This makes skins a good part of your development strategy.
