It almost goes without saying that the Cincinnati Bengals would be the most attractive head coaching job in the NFL to date if they took over from Zac Taylor.
Two words: Joe Burrow.
This trumps everything else. There is no doubt that people are concerned about the way the Bengal tigers are doing things. Fans don’t need long lists out there.

But as ESPN’s Bill Barnwell perfectly explained why the Bengals were the No. 1 job, most hired coaches just hope they end up finding someone with the talent Burrow already has:
“But at the same time, there’s Burrow. There have never been many Hall of Fame-caliber quarterbacks in the NFL, and given how successful they’ve typically been, it’s rare to get the chance to coach one of them in their prime. Most coaches join an organization hoping (or promising) that they’ll find a quarterback of Burrow’s caliber. The Bengals already have a Burrow. Now, they just need to find someone who can make him believe again.”

Frankly, this is why the Bengals should be keen on the idea of moving on from Taylor. Will things go smoothly for him in the next year or two? certainly.

But hiring a defensive guru as a head coach and an offensive coordinator who works well with Burrow? That might be what gets the Bengals right back on track.
The new head coach wants to see the team continue to modernize, especially after years of embarrassing failures in trying to cobble together a team. mediocre defense. That means changes in the scouting department and elsewhere.
But Burrow is in Cincinnati. Well, the Bengals don’t have any competition when it comes to the ideal head coaching job.
