The Longhorns tight end is expected to hear his name called in the NFL Draft for the second straight year. Last year, it was Gunnar Helm; now, the focus is on Jack Endries. Although Endris only played one season with the Longhorns, he made the most of his opportunity, making him well-known around the NFL.
The Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly one of the teams that have met with Endris. Currently, the Eagles only have one tight end, EJ Jenkins, under contract. Their starter the past few seasons has been Dallas Goedert, who is currently a free agent.
If the Eagles were to add Endris, they would be getting a productive player who played for two programs in college. The California native finished his college career with 124 catches and 1,377 receiving yards. He also reached the end zone seven times while playing for Cal and Texas.

The Monte Vista alum was one of Archie Manning’s favorite targets during his only season at Texas. He caught 33 passes for 346 yards. Although Endris’ time in Austin was short, he was a weapon in the offense and spoke highly of Manning at the combine.
“It felt like he could have scored six touchdowns by himself,” Endris said. “In the air or on the ground game. I hope we make the playoffs. I think we’ll be good with him at quarterback and the rest of our team.”
While the Hawks have made their interest clear, more teams should get involved as the draft approaches. At Cal and Texas, Endris should figure he can be a valuable player on offense and thrive no matter who is under center.
