Megyn Kelly can’t believe Charlie Kirk wasn’t named Time magazine’s Person of the Year.
On Thursday’s episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show,” the host bristled at the fact that the 2025 Person of the Year wasn’t a person at all, but the architect of artificial intelligence. She expressed dissatisfaction with the decision not to posthumously honor Kirk after his assassination in September.
“This is artificial intelligence. This is artificial intelligence architect,” Kelly said. “This is not Charlie Kirk, it’s so obvious – it’s as obvious as the nose on your face. Critics, don’t tell me, ‘Oh, he’s so controversial.'” Not so. They have attacked highly controversial people and villains in the past. This always and often comes down to people like Ayatollah Vladimir Putin. We have some very controversial people who made it or almost made it. Not only was Charlie not selected, he wasn’t even one of the honorable mentions. Yes, Putin won in 2007. “
She added: “This statement is simply wrong. Just as the AI architect was not the most influential figure this year. To ignore what happened to Charlie Kirk in September and the resurgence of faith around the world following his assassination is to ignore the reality based on your own politics.”
Kirk was shot and killed on September 10 while speaking at Utah Valley University. Tyler Robinson was later charged with assassinating the founder of Turning Point USA. Kirk is survived by his wife Erica and two children.
In addition to the AI Architect, other contenders for Person of the Year include US President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani and the first American Pope Leo XIV.
